The perfect procrastination tool
In a world where attention spans are getting shorter and software companies everywhere are trying to create programs to help people increase productivity, YouTube Corner tries to do exactly the opposite. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying this app is a bad thing, just don’t expect your boss to be cool with you using it.
It all comes down to your ability to focus on multiple things at the same time, really. You could be tempted to believe that the app helps you save the time spent switching between your browser window and your workspace, until you realize that this isn’t really the case.
So, how does it work?
Since the program is portable, it doesn’t require any installation. As soon as you open it, a window containing a YouTube player will appear in the bottom-right corner of your screen. You can make YouTube videos play there by copying their URLs from the browser and then clicking the small YouTube icon on the top-left of the app’s window. Unfortunately, there’s no Autoplay option.
The window stays always-on-top and also moves away from your cursor if you try to grab it once. This feature was designed so the app doesn’t get in your way when you’re working, but it only makes it more difficult to move the window. Even if it’s an interesting the idea, YouTube Corner isn’t exactly an app that you could consider useful, while its limited design doesn’t make it any more appealing.

With some added functionality that can’t be found in YouTube’s built-in app, such as Autoplay and the ability to stop and resume video, a $4.99 upgrade is well worth it. It’s a lot better than opening the built-in app and clicking on the video you want to play, even if that is a matter of seconds.

If you’re looking for a Windows 10 app that can help you multitask while you watch videos online, check out the latest release from Xfinity, Xfinity Live TV. This free app will work with Comcast’s X1 set-top box, but if you’re not a Comcast subscriber you’ll need to make some other type of account to use it. The good news is that it works with both PCs and mobile devices.

In addition to working as a media player, Xfinity Live TV lets you search for new content to watch and search for shows. Unfortunately, there’s no ability to browse the internet while watching live TV, which is a real shame. You can search for sports games, shows, movies, news, and music while you’re watching a live broadcast, which makes it worth a shot if you’re a big sports fan or want to catch up on the news, but it’s disappointing that this feature is absent.

I also noticed that Xfinity Live TV doesn’t appear to support 1080p streaming content. It does support UHD, but as of now, all shows are available in 720p. I’d be interested in testing the app with my Comcast X1 in the future to see if it�
